The following are 8 basic tips for parents, caregivers or guardians to strengthen and maintain good parenting for their child.
- Do not undress in front of your child when they reach the age of 2 or older.
- Learn to ask your child to step aside.
- Do not allow anyone to call your child “boyfriend/girlfriend”, “my wife/husband” or “my spouse”.
- Whenever your child goes to play with friends, make sure you follow up to find out what they are playing, as these days even children teach each other dirty games.
- If your child shows reluctance to go to someone, do not force them, and also investigate closely to find out why.
- It is advisable to watch any movie yourself first before allowing your child to watch it.
- Teach your child how to clean their private parts from the age of 3 and warn them not to let anyone touch those parts.
- Teach your child the value of living without following the crowd. If your child complains about someone, do not stay silent.
